Privacy Policy

Your Data is Yours. Period.

NGIBS (Next Generation Intelligent Browsing System) is engineered with an uncompromising offline-first philosophy. We believe that if software can run locally, it should run locally.

The Bottom Line: We do not collect, store, transmit, analyze, or monetize your data. We have no servers logging your chats. We do not use telemetry.

1. What We Collect

Absolutely nothing. We do not require you to create an account, provide an email address, or sign in to use NGIBS. Because we do not host a cloud backend for this software, it is technically impossible for us to collect usage metrics, IP addresses, or personal information.

2. Local Storage and Processing

All data generated or processed by NGIBS remains strictly on your physical machine. This includes:

Chat Histories: Stored locally in your application data folder.
Vector Embeddings: When you attach a file or use the "Context Aware" feature, NGIBS builds a local ChromaDB database. This database never leaves your hard drive.
AI Models: Large Language Models (via Ollama) are downloaded and executed entirely on your local CPU/GPU.

Because you are the sole custodian of your data, if you delete your local database or uninstall the application, your data is gone permanently. We cannot recover it for you.

3. Third-Party APIs (Live & Deep Search)

NGIBS is capable of interacting with the internet to fetch real-time data, but only when you explicitly command it to. If you use the Live Search or Deep Search features, the application will make external HTTP requests.

How this works:

Requests are made directly from your computer's IP address to target websites (e.g., Wikipedia, DuckDuckGo API, or specific domains you query).
Your Internet Service Provider (ISP) or VPN will be able to see this traffic, just as they would if you used a standard web browser like Chrome or Firefox.
The fetched data is downloaded to your machine, parsed locally by BeautifulSoup, and fed into your local LLM. It is never routed through Jaiho Labs servers.

If you wish to remain 100% air-gapped, simply disable Live Search and rely exclusively on Quick Search and local documents.

4. Integrations (Ollama)

NGIBS interfaces with Ollama for model management. When you request to download a new model through the NGIBS Settings UI, your machine connects to Ollama's model registry to pull the necessary files. We recommend reviewing Ollama's privacy policy regarding model downloads.

5. Changes to This Policy

We won't change our core philosophy. If we ever introduce optional cloud features in the future, they will be strictly opt-in, disabled by default, and we will update this policy accordingly. Such updates will be clearly communicated in the software release notes.
